Long-term partnership: data analysis and monitoring increase availability for more than 200 MWh of battery storage capacity

ju:niz Energy, one of Germany's leading project developers and operators of large-scale battery energy storage systems (BESS), will additionally monitor and analyze its current and future BESS portfolio in operation of over 200 MWh with TWAICE's battery analytics software. With the help of the software, ju:niz Energy will be able to increase the availability and the revenue of its battery storage systems.

ju:niz Energy aims to increase flexibility in the grid and works closely with all relevant players along the value chain to achieve this. With this concept, ju:niz Energy is now one of the largest project developers and operators of large-scale battery storage systems in Germany.

The partnership with TWAICE offers several key advantages:

  • Standardized benchmarking: ju:niz Energy benefits from a central platform that bundles all storage-relevant information and serves as a standardized benchmarking tool.
  • Support for the O&M team: The storage operator's operations and maintenance team is proactively supported in its maintenance work. The TWAICE software analyzes the energy storage systems and provides targeted and detailed information on potential sources of failure, among other things. This significantly reduces the manual workload for the storage system operator. With just one glance at the software, the maintenance team knows which error patterns are involved or where exactly a malfunction in the battery is likely to occur. The predictive maintenance work helps ju:niz Energy to ensure the availability and therefore also the return on investment of the storage system.
  • Reduced downtimes: With the help of battery analytics software, ju:niz Energy maintains the battery storage systems in fundamentally safe and efficient operation. The software constantly analyzes battery data and warns of potential failures before they actually occur. The early warnings enable preventive measures to be planned and implemented in advance so that battery systems do not fail unexpectedly.

"This partnership contributes greatly to the reliable, safe and efficient operation of our portfolio," explains Managing Director Gabriele Schmiedel of ju:niz Energy. "In addition, we want to select the best possible cell technology for the future based on the evaluation of various cells by TWAICE so that we remain technologically agile."
